Bedfordshire Food Mark



We're delighted to announce our recently awarded Food Mark from Tastes of Bedfordshire received in recognition of our seasonal menus and dedication to sourcing fresh, local produce. Operated by Bedfordshire County Council, Taste of Bedfordshire was established to encourage local businesses to support one another and to advise customers where to go to buy and consume quality local ingredients.

New Seasonal Menu
Our 2 talented chefs have created a wonderful new menu using the finest locally sourced produce. English Asparagus will be featuring in our special dishes over the next few weeks, together with fresh trout from Rutland & Grafham Water. Our delicious desserts include English raspberries and rhubarb, which we have paired up with some wonderful dessert wines. Bedfordshire Festival Of Food – Tastes of Bedfordshire
Royal Oak 2nd Chef Ashley Tickner demonstrated his skills at the first Bedfordshire Festival of Food at Shuttleworth on Saturday 5th April. Ash created a wonderful venison in Marsala wine sauce with  morel mushrooms and fresh nettles in front of an attentive and inquisitive audience. Extended Bar Menu for Monday evenings
Following the great response to our Monday Night Menu, we are now offering a broader selection of food from our Bar Menu. Freshly cooked food is served on Monday evenings from 5:30 to 8pm. Booking is not necessary, and the bar is open from 3pm if you wish to enjoy a quiet relaxing drink in the bar or our delightful beer garden.

Winter Quiz raises over £700 for charity
Our ever popular Sunday night winter quiz has come to the end of another hotly contested season. Brian’s Mates clinched this years title by the narrowest of margins, closely followed by the Potton Posse. Thanks to everyone that competed in the quiz, together we raised over £700 which will be donated to the Willow Foundation. The quiz will resume in the Autumn, watch this space!

NEW – Sunday Summer Nights - Fun & Barbeque
Now that the quiz is over for the winter why not come and join the fun from 7pm on a Sunday night! The Petanque and the Giant Jenga games are great fun, especially with a lovely cold beer or a glass of wine or 2! And a sizzling barbeque. We will be running a weekly knockout petanque competition – everyone welcome - no experience or equipment required!
